Pineapple Centerpieces

Every time I go to cut a pineapple I have a couple moments of hesitation. It's one of those foods that almost seems too pretty to eat. This makes them both a perfect centerpiece, promoting a more intentionally designed place for your plates, as well as an exciting eating option, adding an exotic flare to any meal or gathering.

As we explored in another post, The Power of the Pineapple, "Some cultures consider pineapples an international symbol of welcome and are often left on gate posts or door frames or are presented to someone as a signal of welcoming them as they are. They are even presented as a symbolic way of saying 'you are perfect'."

Pineapples not only make a perfect centerpiece for virtually any holiday, but they also can communicate to your guests an overwhelming sense that they are welcome just as they are. At one point, they were considered such a luxury item that you could rent a pineapple for parties. They can accommodate almost any theme or holiday, from a typical tropical-themed gathering to more traditional weddings or parties. And an obvious bonus...they are a built-in back up appetizer or snack if you start running low on food. What's better than a sustainable centerpiece?

Play with pineapple for your next party centerpiece, whatever the time of year or theme! Don't limit yourself to luaus. Try spicing up seasonal centerpieces by combining pineapples in an unlikely pairing! Play around with paint and patterns...and don't forget, practice makes progress, and in this case you can eat your attempts so victory will be even sweeter. I think you'll be surprised with the golden results you get.
