Aspiring dietitian.

Hi, my name is Annika Carlson. I have known for a long time that I wanted to help people through counseling, education, and promoting healthy lifestyle skills in both my personal and professional life. Dietetics combines those passions while challenging me to be the best version of myself each day. I love learning about food and its power, from the way it empowers to how it heals at the cellular level, and the power it has to bring people together.

One of the most frequently asked questions I am asked is about the "gap" in my college education. Between 2016 and 2018 I faced unique personal challenges that impacted my ability to attend school or work. Despite experiencing tremendous pain, loss, and uncertainty, I continued to incorporate aspects of nutrition and wellness into every facet of my life that I could. I consider this part of my life a period of unique education due to the impact of the personal experiences I had and the opportunity I took to develop a greater level of empathy and understanding for my future clients, patients, and their individual experiences.

Currently, I am a senior in the BYU dietetics program and am expected to graduate in April 2020. Following my graduation, I plan to complete an internship, become a certified Registered Dietitian (RD), and then help others change their lives, one diet at a time.
